My Favorite Scrapbooking Supplies

I’ve been making albums, boxes, and cards for over a decade, and along the way, I’ve tested more tools than I care to admit. Some were forgettable, some were fantastic, and a few have truly earned permanent spots on my table. This post includes the supplies I reach for over and over again, whether I’m teaching a class, creating handmade gifts, or working on custom albums for my business.

Feel free to comment below if you have questions about any of them. I love chatting supplies!

Foundations First: Cardstock & Chipboard

When it comes to album making, black cardstock is my go-to. It makes everything pop! But I also use white, kraft, and sometimes even gold, especially for peeking out behind a photo or adding elegant matting.

My Favorites:

For the album structure, I use either black chipboard, or medium weight chipboard.

Trim, Score, Repeat: My Favorite Cutting Tools

If you’ve ever taken a class with me, you’ve probably met my We R Memory Keepers Trim & Score Board. It trims clean, scores straight, folds for easy storage (I keep mine stored in a simple lid organizer. Easy access, zero clutter) and works beautifully for both kids and adults.

Pro Tip: Keep your blades fresh! There’s nothing worse than a jagged cut in the middle of a beautiful project. And watch out: only one specific blue blade fits this board.

For my own work, though? I’m in love with the Fiskars Guillotine. It’s lightweight, sleek, and cuts like butter. I use the combo trimmer/scoreboard in class for its safety and versatility, but for solo work it’s the guillotine all the way.

Sticking With the Best: Adhesives I Love

Double-sided tape

My number one essential. I couldn’t live without it. I keep 3/8″ tape for everyday projects, and 1″ and 2″ widths for album work where I need fast, clean coverage.

Favorite brand? Scor-Tape. It may cost a little more, but it’s worth every penny! strong, long-lasting, and no post-project peeling.

Liquid glue

For classes, I go with Tombow, small bottles I refill as needed. It’s clean and easy for students.
For my business, though, it’s all about Art Glitter Glue. It’s precise, fast-drying, and incredibly strong.

Foam tape

For adding dimension to cards, shaker windows, or embellishments, I LOVE double-sided foam tape. I use big rolls I can cut to size, or pre-cut foam dots when I want a quick pop.

These are the tools I rely on day in and day out. I hope this post helps you stock your own crafty corner with things that actually work and bring you joy. And remember, if you’re just getting started, you don’t need everything at once. Start with the basics, get comfortable, and grow your collection as you grow your confidence.

Got a question or a favorite of your own? I’d love to hear in the comments!
