I’ve been making albums, boxes, and cards for over a decade, and along the way, I’ve tested more tools than I care to admit. Some were forgettable, some were fantastic, and a few have truly earned permanent spots on my table. This post includes the supplies I reach for over and over again, whether I\u2019m teaching a class, creating handmade gifts, or working on custom albums for my business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Foundations First: Cardstock & Chipboard<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to album making, black cardstock<\/strong> is my go-to. It makes everything pop! But I also use white<\/strong>, kraft<\/strong>, and sometimes even gold<\/strong>, especially for peeking out behind a photo or adding elegant matting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trim, Score, Repeat: My Favorite Cutting Tools<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019ve ever taken a class with me, you\u2019ve probably met my We R Memory Keepers Trim & Score Board<\/a><\/strong>. It trims clean, scores straight, folds for easy storage (I keep mine stored in a simple lid organizer<\/a>. Easy access, zero clutter) and works beautifully for both kids and adults. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pro Tip:<\/em> Keep your blades <\/a>fresh! There’s nothing worse than a jagged cut in the middle of a beautiful project. And watch out: only one specific blue blade fits this board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For my own work<\/strong>, though? I\u2019m in love with the Fiskars Guillotine<\/a><\/strong>. It\u2019s lightweight, sleek, and cuts like butter. I use the combo trimmer\/scoreboard in class for its safety and versatility, but for solo work it\u2019s the guillotine all the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sticking With the Best: Adhesives I Love<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Double-sided tape<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

My number one essential. I couldn\u2019t live without it. I keep 3\/8″ tape<\/a><\/strong> for everyday projects, and 1″ and 2″ widths<\/strong> for album work where I need fast, clean coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Favorite brand?<\/em> Scor-Tape. It may cost a little more, but it\u2019s worth every penny! strong, long-lasting, and no post-project peeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Liquid glue<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For classes, I go with Tombow<\/strong><\/a>, small bottles I refill <\/a>as needed. It\u2019s clean and easy for students.
For my business, though, it\u2019s all about Art Glitter Glue<\/a><\/strong>. It\u2019s precise, fast-drying, and incredibly strong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Foam tape<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For adding dimension<\/strong> to cards, shaker windows, or embellishments, I LOVE double-sided foam tape<\/a><\/strong>. I use big rolls I can cut to size, or pre-cut foam dots<\/a><\/strong> when I want a quick pop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
